The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five. It is a great way to start your African safari adventure. However, as one of the world's most astonishing and renowned natural wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater does get busy, and at times very busy. Due to the crowds we recommend a two-night stay only here, then moving on to the Serengeti for a quieter, more private safari experience. Any Northern Tanzania Safari should ideally include a visit to Ngorongoro Crater: it is one of the most beautiful natural wildlife safari sites in the world and an exceptional place to interact with people from the Maasai tribe.

The Ngorongoro Crater and surrounding highlands together form one of Africa's most beautiful regions. Volcanic craters form stunning backdrops to some of the most fertile and richest grazing grounds in Africa. The most famous such crater is without question Ngorongoro, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and home to the highest density of big game in Africa. Ngorongoro is justifiably one of the continent's most famous safari destinations.

Wildlife: The Ngorongoro Crater is the best place in Tanzania to see 'The Big Five', Black Rhino, large tusker Elephants, Lion, leopard and hyena, Wildebeest, buffalo and zebra. Other wildlife here includes serval cat, cheetah, jackal, Grant and Thompson's gazelle, flamingo and bat-eared foxes, as well as approximately 400 species of bird.

Activities: A full range of activities is on offer in the wider Ngorongoro Conservation Area, including Game drives, Walking, Trekking, Excursions to Olduvai Gorge and visiting the Masai and other tribes.

  Day 1. Depart Beach Hotel for Arusha City

  We would pick you from your hotel at 5.00 am transfer to Taveta border at around 10.00 hours to 11:00 hours and take you to Hans Hotel where you would arrive time for lunch. After lunch time you would spend the rest of the day on leisure until time for dinner and overnight in the same hotel which is near the famous Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).

  Day 2: Depart Arusha for Ngorongoro Crater

  Our professional driver guide will pick you up from your Hans Hotel in Arusha at 07:00 hours then take you to the Ngorongoro Crater which is 190 km away, approximately 4 hours’ drive. You would drive across the Ardai Plains then pass the Great Rift Valley. Continue to drive further along plantations at Karatu then through the Ngorongoro Conservation Forest Reserve. Upon arriving at the rim of the Crater, you descend 610m/2000ft down to the base of the crater. Here you begin the Crater tour by watching and photographing the wild animals including the only remaining Africa’s black rhino, black–maned lions, buffaloes, leopard, elephants, wildebeests, zebra and birds such as flamingoes around the shores of the Soda Lake, lunch would be in the lodge. In the afternoon you would continue with the tour until 18:00 hours after which you would leave the Crater and return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

  Day 3 Full Day Ngorongoro Crater Tour

  This day would be spent in the rim of the Crater, you descend 610m/2000ft down to the base of the crater with a break for lunch in the lodge then another game drive followed by dinner and overnight in the lodge.

  Day 4: Depart Ngorongoro for Taveta

  After breakfast we would take you to Taveta Kenya border were you would be met and taken to your next destination.
