1 Day Shimbahills Tour

Shimba hills national reserve is a small park in Kwale County. It covers an area of 220 km2 and was gazetted in 1968. The reserve is an area of coastal rainforest, woodland, grassland and tropical. The game reserve hold one of the largest areas of coastal rain forest in East Africa after Arabuko Sokoke.

There are estimated to be approximately 700 elephants in the reserve, this population is un stainable high because it causes significant damage to the vegetation threatening the endangered plant life. The Reserve, serves as Kenya's last remaining habitat of the Rare Sable Antelope, the reserve is also home to elephants, buffalo, the dramatic black and white colobus monkeys, leopard, bush babies, a variety of birds.
